Little grains of sand, strewn by the wind and the tap of bare feet, form tall towers and castles unlike anywhere else in the world. Here, a person rejoices when compared to an oak or linden tree, burns juniper and pins a rowan branch on a door post for protection, tirelessly polishes century-old floorboards and eats lilac by the handful. In the right combinations, we resound far and wide – be it a small band of musicians abroad or thousands of people at the Mežaparks Great Bandstand. Everything blooms and thrives here. Not only a fragrant meadow in June, but also songs, dance, and granny's motley mitten.
